If you grew up in the 1970s and were a fan of science fiction, ghost stories, bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and UFOs, you are going to be very familiar with the subject matter of Gary D. Rhodes’ Weirdumentary.
Film scholar Rhodes dives into the strange and wide world of the 1970s paranormal “documentary” in his new book with a examination of the phenomena through profiles and essays on dozens of films from the decade.
Weirdumentary (with a foreword Stephen R. Bissette) also features hundreds of archival film posters, set photos, and other images to allow readers to truly get a sense of the excitement, scares, and laughs that these films are known for.
We spoke to Rhodes all about Weirdumentary in our exclusive interview with the author below.
Weirdumentary is currently available at finer bookstores everywhere and directly through the Feral House website.
