It’s a jungle out there in the new official trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong. In the longest clip we’ve seen yet of the upcoming film, human characters set the stage for the ultimate showdown between these two legendary beasts. After talk of a child with borderline psychic abilities and scientists concerned about Godzilla’s recent irritability, the trailer turns to the kind of scenes fans of both franchises are looking forward to seeing: explosions, fire breath, and prehistoric beatdowns.
The trailer for the film is accompanied by an official synopsis:
“Legends collide in Godzilla vs. Kong as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.”
Godzilla vs. Kong is directed by Adam Wingard (You’re Next). The film stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Eiza González, Demián Bichir, and more. The film will debut simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max on March 26th, 2021.
