Docuseries couldn’t be more popular at the moment, covering everything from true crime tales to misguided animal wranglers. The Travel Channel, known for the plethora of paranormal programming that they offer on an hourly basis, is getting in on the trend with their new series, Shock Docs, which will profile the most famous cases in the ghostly world.
The inaugural episode, Devil’s Road: The True Story of Ed and Lorraine Warren, will debut on Labor Day, Monday, September 7 at 9:00 PM/ET. According to the official press release, the two-hour special will feature “…interviews with their daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Tony Spera, who share never-before-broadcast audio of Ed conducting interviews for the Bridgeport, Connecticut, poltergeist case, and rare video of the Warrens helping a young woman coming under demonic possession. Tony also has granted the production access to his catalog of footage from his television series, Seekers of the Supernatural. It includes many hours of Ed and Lorraine discussing their work with Tony.”
The announcement was made during the Travel Channel’s “Wonder Women: Superstars of Paranormal” panel at Comic-Con@Home. The panel, featuring Amy Bruni (Kindred Spirits) and Katrina Weidman (Portals to Hell), Chelsea Laden (Destination Fear), and Cindy Kaza (The Holzer Files), celebrated the contributions of women to the field of paranormal investigations and television, and near the end of the panel, singled out the late Lorraine Warren as the trailblazer.
Future installments of Travel Channel’s Shock Docs will again bring in the famed Ghost Hunting couple for an episode about The Amityville Horror and another episode will be focused on the inspiration for The Exorcist, the 1940’s Exorcism of Roland Doe.
