Dynamite Entertainment and Hasbro have combined forces to satisfy a generation of fully grown 1980s kids as well as much younger fans with a new 200 card set dedicated to the 40th Anniversary of the Transformers.
The cards will feature artwork from the classic toys, animation, and comic books, including art from Hasbro, Marvel Comics, Skybound, Toei, Akom, and Sunbow Productions.
The 40th Anniversary set focuses on the original “Generation 1” era of the Transformers, with enough Autobots and Decepticons to fill a used car lot.
The cards will be available as individual foil packs with 10 cards in each, or as box sets with 24 packs included. The complete set features 110 base cards, 55 rainbow holofoil cards, 10 animation art cell cards, and 5 ultra-rare enhanced cards.
The boxes will even have a Transformer-like special metal box topper cards. Some retailers will also carry a package with three packs and a bonus foil card, or a package presenting the complete base set.
Walmart and Sam’s Club have exclusive packaging and presentation of the set.
UPDATE (9/24/24): Before the cards reach the stores, Dynamite has decided to go the Kickstarter route with them, which you can check out right here.
