Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca’s Iron Man run continues in The New Iron Age Modern Era Epic Collection.
The New Iron Age collects The Invincible Iron Man #500, 500.1, and 501-509, The Invincible Iron Man Annual #1, and Fear Itself, and Iron Man #7.3 (yes, that is not a typo, 7.3. Thank goodness Marvel stopped with the decimal point trend).
Fraction and Larroca’s run (which began in 2008’s Iron Man #1) gets back to classic numbering and the trails and tribulations of Tony Stark in the collection with an examination of the life and times of Iron Man as seen through the eyes of his greatest foe, the Mandarin.
Much of the collection also focuses on Marvel’s Fear Itself event, with Stark attempting to rebuild and fortify Asgard in the face of the god of fear (and brother of Odin) Cul Borson. While the Fear Itself event series was hit or miss, the Iron Man issues (and his role in the conflict) proved to be a highlight of the series and the tie-in issues.
The first two parts of Fraction and Larroca’s run were released as Modern Era Epic Collections in 2024, titled World’s Most Wanted and Disassembled. Both volumes should still be available at your local comic shop.
The New Iron Age Modern Era Epic Collection consists of 416 pages for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
