‘The Incredible Hulk’ Omnibus Vol. 3 Smashes the Bronze Age of Comics

The third Omnibus in the long publication history of the Hulk arrives much sooner than expected to entertain all fans of the Bronze Age exploits of the monster in the ripped purple pants.

The Incredible Hulk Omnibus Vol. 3 collects The Incredible Hulk #135-170, The Avengers #88, and Marvel Super Heroes #16.

All stories are written by Roy Thomas, Archie Goodwin, Steve Englehart, Harlan Ellison, Gary Friedrich, Len Wein, Gerry Conway, Chris Claremont, and Steve Gerber, with art by Herb Trimpe, Sal Buscema, Dick Ayers, Mike Esposito, Sam Grainger, Jim Mooney, John Severin, Frank Giacoia, Sal Trapani, and Jack Abel.

Starting with a Kang the Conqueror cover by Trimpe commemorating the year 1971, the early Bronze Age stories are filled with all of the smashing action and mayhem one expects from a classic Hulk story.

Highlights include the first appearance of Hulk’s ladylove Jarella and her subatomic world and ally, foe, and futurist therapist Doc Samson, Bruce Banner’s trial defense by Matt Murdock, a retelling of his origin, titanic battles against Doctor Doom, the Abomination, the Leader, the Wendigo, Rhino, M.O.D.O.K., the Sandman, Tiger Shark, and colorful Bronze Age villains such as Xeron the Space Hunter, The Harpy, Bi-Beast, The Gremlin, Godspawn, The Inheritor, Captain Axis, Captain Omen, Aquon, and Zzzax.

The Hulkster also teams with/fights with Ant-Man, the Valkyrie, and the Avengers in the Omnibus.

Hulk fans had to wait fifteen years for the second volume in the classic Incredible Hulk Omnibus series (released in 2023) to continue some of the earliest adventures of the Jade Giant, so the arrival of Vol. 3 after two years is a welcome change.

The Incredible Hulk Omnibus Vol. 3 consists of 912 pages for a suggested retail price of $125.00.
