The Goon and Friends Return to Dark Horse Comics

Eric Powell’s The GoonHillbilly, Big Man Plans, and Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? will now be published by Dark Horse Comics through a new Albatross Funnybooks imprint.

This marks a return to Dark Horse for Powell, who originally self-published The Goon through Albatross Funnybooks in 2002 before bringing his creation to Dark Horse Comics in 2003. Powell left Dark Horse in 2015 when he restarted Albatross Funnybooks and continued The Goon‘s adventures there in 2019.

The first new project to be released under the Albatross Funnybooks banner at Dark Horse will be a new edition of former Kickstarter/Albatross Funnybooks original graphic novel Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? by Powell and Harold Schechter in early 2023.

Powell says that “I couldn’t be happier to be returning to Dark Horse and bringing Albatross over as an imprint. This partnership will allow me to focus more on what I want to be doing, making books. I’m very excited for what the future holds and the new opportunities to be found.”

Dark Horse President Mike Richardson is happy with the reunion and says that “Eric and The Goon are old friends of Dark Horse. Bringing The Goon here along with his Albatross imprint feels like a homecoming for all of us. Eric is one of comics’ premier creators, and we can’t wait to show you what he’s been cooking up.”

Brendon Small’s Galaktikon and Rebecca Sugar’s Pug Davis will also make their Dark Horse Comics debut in the near future.
