‘The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special’ Trailer Highlights New Stories by Original Creators

The upcoming The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1 returns to the fatal battle between Superman and Doomsday, as well as the aftermath, with four all-new stories by the original creative teams.

The brand new trailer contains interview clips from most of the principal architects of the explosive event from 1992, as they return to the classic material to commemorate the anniversary.

The stories include: “Above and Beyond” by Jerry Ordway, Tom Grummett, Doug Hazelwood, Glenn Whitmore, and Rob Leigh (which zooms in on Ma and Pa Kent watching their son fight Doomsday in real-time and hoping that he survives), “Time” by Louise Simonson, Jon Bogdanove, Whitmore, and Leigh (John Henry Irons’s p.o.v. of the ultimate battle), “Standing Guard” by Roger Stern, Butch Guice, Whitmore, and Leigh (The Guardians’ perspective on the battle and aftermath), and “The Life of Superman” by Dan Jurgens, Brett Breeding, Brad Anderson, and John Workman (which jumps to the future when a young Jon Kent finds out in school that his father once died fighting Doomsday).

The special also introduces a new villain connected to the original Doomsday called Doombreaker.

A new edition of The Death of Superman omnibus was released in May.

Look for the anniversary special in stores on November 8, and be sure to check out our recent interview with Breeding about the original industry changing event.
