‘The Batman’ Soars at Weekend Box Office

Director Matt Reeves The Batman is off to a flying (or gliding) start with over $134 million at the weekend box office, landing in second place in the pandemic era charts right behind Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s gaudy $260.1 million debut.

With Robert Pattinson under the cowl, The Batman took in $57 million on Friday (including $21.6 million for late Thursday showings), and looks to have legs, with a positive fan and critical reception so far.

The Batman currently sits at 85% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an additional 90% positive Audience Score. People leaving the theater over the weekend rated the film as an A- for CinemaScore pollsters, one of the best ratings in recent years for a DC Comics-based film.

The Batman also stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
