Vinne Discusses ‘The Art of Vinne-My Way’

International art sensation Vinne is currently one of the most popular artists in South America due to his blend of cultures and styles with an anime sensibility. The artists has worked with bands such as Bring Me the Horizon (and Never Say Die Records), and in the worlds of anime (the Evangelion x pixiv Fanart Collection), fashion (his clothing and lifestyle brand Hex Termina), and even car culture (PRIX Workshop, PINKFLAMINGOUSA).

The artist has also just launched his first art book on Kickstarter with Clover Press titled The Art of Vinne-My Way, which collects the best of Vinne’s art from 2018 to 2024.

We spoke to Vinne about his new collection and all of his other projects in this exclusive interview.

Where did your love of art and anime originate?  Was there one particular anime that caught your attention more than others?

Vinne: Back when I was 10, I discovered my favorite anime, Angel Beats. At around 12 years old, Evangelion blew my mind and I just went deeper, mostly watching Gainax’s productions.

How would you describe your art process when it comes to blending Eastern and Western art styles?

Vinne: It’s fun, it’s cool and I learn a lot the more I continue through this process. I love doing this mix, and I have a good feeling knowing there are people who see this as something interesting to look at.

What was it like to try and assemble an art book of your work?

Vinne: Not that complicated. Clover Press was precise and helped me through the process of deciding which art would be cool to add.

When you work with musicians, is it a collaborative process or do you come up with artwork based on your own?

Vinne: Completely collaborative, I love to share ideas and having a briefing to follow. It makes me understand how to work with a team.

You have recently been involved with clothing as well.  Is your process any different in terms of design?

Vinne: It is really different. New fields, new rules, and a new audience to reach. But I love it. I love trying new things, and I think this art book is all about discovering yourself.

Upcoming work?

Vinne: A lot of projects for my brand Hex Termina. Not just clothes. I want to turn the brand into something bigger.

The Art of Vinne-My Way is available to back on Kickstarter until Friday, January 17.
