Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Spencer Ackerman and artist Julius Ohta launch Iron Man into a dirty war with Roxxon and A.I.M. in a new Iron Man series.
Following the conclusion of Gerry Duggan’s Invincible Iron Man, the new creative team will begin with a new first issue in October that sees Tony Stark willing to get down and dirty with industrial rivals Roxxon and A.I.M.
The new Iron Man series will also debut a brand-new suit of armor, dubbed the “Improvised Iron Man,” as well as a new Iron Monger to oppose him.
Ackerman is ready for his new assignment, and said “Winning a Pulitzer is cool and all, but it’s not writing for Marvel Comics. And to write Iron Man is a very specific dream come true. A lot of comics’ best creators have used Iron Man to tell big stories about security and freedom—with a whole lot of super hero action, of course—and I can’t wait to build on their legacy.”
Much of Ackerman’s work from the world of journalism has centered around national and international security and conflict, which gave the writer further insight and inspiration for the new storyline.
“In my day job reporting on national security, I’ve covered the real-life equivalents of the Stark Expo, watched experimental weapons in action, seen their impact on human beings, and tracked the massive wealth they generate for a select few. Tony struggles with challenges—and is sure about to struggle with challenges—that I’ve covered for years. Only now I can write about them the way I’ve always wanted to: in a super hero universe!” Ackerman said.
Ackerman previous collaborated with Evan Narcisse on DC’s Black Label series, Waller vs. Wildstorm.

This new fight against Roxxon should be interesting; wondering if it will have some cross over to Immortal Thor as he is also in a brutal fight with Dario Agger and Roxxon?
