Dan Slott, Marcus To, Phil Jimenez, and Marcos Martin return to their original Spider-Man run in May’s Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day series.
The new in-continuity stories (which originally started in 2008 and ran for just under three years) will add to ones from their previous run and will be written by Slott with interior art by To, along with covers by Jimenez, and special backup stories by Martin.
The first storyline involves Spider-Man’s discovery of one of the most valuable items the Kingpin possesses called The Lexicon. The valuable sourcebook is a directory of the Kingpin’s criminal enterprise which could alter the entire criminal landscape of New York City, attracting the attention of Mr. Negative and the Punisher for very different reasons.
“Spider-Man is my favorite character in all of fiction. Heart on my sleeve here—I love writing Spider-Man,” shared Slott. “We’re going to reveal hidden secrets and plant explosive seeds that will pay off and affect what’s happening in Spider-Man’s world today! These will be stories that matter and that will have major consequences!
“We’ve got the killer art team of Marvel’s biggest secret weapon, Marcus To, and new shorts by the Inkpot Award-winning legend, Marcos Martin! With Marcus, this is going to be one of the best looking books on the stand, and with Marcos, we’re going to have these incredible short features that will ensure that NEW readers can jump right in, even if they’ve never read a Brand New Day issue!”
