Skybound and Universal Bring Back ‘Frankenstein’ to the World of Comics

Skybound Entertainment, Image Comics, and Universal Products & Experiences continue their spooky collaboration with another series featuring Mary Shelley’s original monster in a new Universal Monsters: Frankenstein comic book series from artist/writer Michael Walsh.

Walsh takes the unique approach of telling the origins behind one of the corpse parts used to create Frankenstein’s monster in the original film, focusing on a pair of powerful hands “borrowed” from a police officer.

The plot thickens when the son of said police officer wants to know who was desecrating his father’s grave.

In addition to the main cover by Michael Walsh, Universal Monsters: Frankenstein #1 will offer a scary variant cover lineup from artists including Joshua Middleton, David Talaski and Christian Ward, as well as the first of a four-part connecting cover series by Francesco Francavilla.

Fans who want to create their own versions of the monster will also be able to pick up a blank sketch cover version at their local comic shop.

Universal Monsters: Frankenstein is the third Universal Monsters comics series from Skybound, following James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds’ Dracula and Dan Watters, Ram V, and Matthew Roberts’ Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives!

Look for even more Universal Monsters comics from Skybound/Image Comics in the future.
