‘Sharksploitation’ Documentary Debuts on Shudder on July 21

Stephen Scarlata’s examination of the killer shark subgenre entitled Sharksploitation will swim to the surface on Shudder beginning on July 21.

The new documentary explores the impact of Jaws and all of the subsequent films that attempted to capitalize on the success of Steven Spielberg’s summer blockbuster, as well as how these shark movies have shaped our perceptions about our ocean’s apex predators.

The film features interviews with Roger Corman, Joe Dante, Carl Gottlieb,  Johannes Roberts, Mario Van Pebbles, and marine and environmental conservation advocate Wendy Benchley, who was married to late Jaws, author Peter Benchley.

Check out the trailer below and decide for yourself if you’d like to dip your toe into the surf this summer.
