As everyone knows, Shang-Chi packs a punch, but The Master of Kung-Fu is also famous for his stamina!
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings won another easy round at the weekend box office with an estimated $21 million in its third weekend of release, along with over $176 million in North America.
And while it may not be ok to cry if you are a tough guy like Clint Eastwood, the producers of Cry Macho are certainly getting the tissues out with only $4.5 million for a third place finish. In fact, the only people crying more are those behind the Gerard Butler-led Copshop which made a paltry $2.3 million this weekend for sixth place. The few people and critics that saw Copshop tended to enjoy it (with an 80% Rotten Tomatoes score and a 72% Audience Score), which was not the case for Cry Macho which currently sits at 52% on the Tomatometer and a grade of B from Cinemascore pollsters.
In more positive news, Free Guy continued to exceed expectations, finishing in second place once again with $5.2 million. The Ryan Reynolds vehicle has already grossed $108.6 million in North America and $298 million globally, shattering initial projections.
Universal’s Candyman also continues to perform well with $3.5 million, a fourth place finish, and $53 million at the domestic box office.
Can Shang-Chi do it again next week against Dear Evan Hansen? Tune in next Sunday for all of the results!
