Turner Classic Movies is known for replaying prestigious films like West Side Story and Wuthering Heights, but classic sci-fi and monster fans know that the network’s real bread and butter are films like Plan 9 From Outer Space!
To celebrate some of the “lesser lights” of classic Hollywood, SF Sketchfest will presents a star-studded table read of Ed Wood’s Plan 9 From Outer Space on Friday, May 7 at 8:00 pm ET as part of TCM’s Classic Film Festival weekend (running from May 6 through May 9).
The original script was adapted by comedian Dana Gould and the event will feature Maria Bamford, Bobcat Goldthwait, Oscar Nuñez, Laraine Newman, Bob Odenkirk, David Koechner, Janet Varney, Jonah Ray, Paul F. Tompkins, Gary Anthony Williams, Baron Vaughn, Deborah Baker Jr. and Kat Aagesen.
The original film will air directly after the event at 9:30 pm ET, allowing everyone to see how the live cast did at channeling the spirit of Ed Wood.
Also of interest to classic sci-fi/horror fans is the premiere of the recently restored version of Doctor X. The new two-color Technicolor master was recently restored by UCLA Film and Television Archive and The Film Foundation in association with Warner Bros. Entertainment. Doctor X airs at 1:30 am ET on Thursday May 6 (or Friday morning, depending how late you are staying up).
The entire four day event will be available on TCM and the TCM Hub on HBO Max.
