Robert Venditti and Wilfredo Torres’ return to the world of Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve’s Superman: The Movie is now available in a new trade paperback edition.
The six-issue Superman ’78 series takes place in Donner and Reeve’s world and also includes more elements from the original comic adventures of the Man of Steel.
Torres loves all the iterations of the character “…in Comics, Animation, TV and Film…” but “…the Christopher Reeve/Richard Donner version is the one I love the most. Working on this project is very literally a childhood dream come true.”
Vendetti also credits the Donner film as his gateway into the DC Universe and comics, as his “… earliest memory interacting with the DC universe is seeing Christopher Reeve fly across the screen. While others might say that the John Byrne era is their Superman, or the Dan Jurgens era is their Superman, Reeve is mine. Superman is and has always been my favorite superhero, but Superman ’78 is a project I never dreamed of working on because it didn’t seem possible it could ever exist. This is the gig of a lifetime.”
A hardcover edition of Superman ’78 was released way back in July of 2022.
The Superman ’78 trade paperback consists of 152 pages for a suggested retail price of $17.99.
