Chuck Austen and Patrick Olliffe launch their new DSTLRY series into space with the debut issue of Defiant.
The series starts with a father’s quest to reclaim his son’s body and uncover the truth surrounding his death on board a drifting space ship called The Defiant. The secrets go far beyond his son’s death, as he soon uncovers an even grander conspiracy, placing him on an interstellar quest for vengeance.
Defiant will also be Austen’s last comic book series, as the noted author is retiring once the comic is complete.
“This series is a deeply personal journey that merges spacefaring adventure with the obstacles of parenthood,” Austen said. “I’m honored to mark it as my final comic, and having Patrick onboard to join me in this final adventure.”
Defiant is presented in DSTLRY’s perfect bound Prestige magazine format, with a wraparound cover and 48 pages of story. The first issue is available with a total of six covers which can be viewed at the official DSTLRY website.
