Rick Veitch’s ‘Swamp Thing’ Run Concludes After 30 Years in ‘Time Upon a Once’ Collection

After more than three decades, the end of Rick Veitch’s Swamp Thing run, and his controversial final story arc, will be released together in a new collected edition under DC’s Black Label imprint.

Swamp Thing by Rick Veitch Vol. 3: Time Upon a Once collects Swamp Thing #80-87, Swamp Thing Annual #5, and Swamp Thing 1989 #88-91 (just released this year).

All stories are written by Rick Veitch and Neil Gaiman, with art by Veitch, Tom Mandrake, Thomas Yeates, Richard Piers Rayner, Michael Zulli, Mike Hoffman, Mike Mignola, Kim DeMulder, and Vince Locke.

Veitch’s run wraps up with Swamp Thing’s journey through time to the very inception of the universe. Swamp Thing encounters villains of times past, examine his ties to the Green, interacts with John Constantine, visits Hell, and even has an encounter with Jesus (which was the original cause of the thirty year delay in publication).

Swamp Thing by Rick Veitch Vol. 3: Time Upon a Once consists of 416 pages for a suggested retail price of $39.99.
