‘Blade The Vampire-Slayer: His Name Is…Blade’ Epic Collection Introduces Vampire Slayer to Marvel Universe

Blade: The Vampire Slayer busts on to the Marvel Comics scene in the new His Name Is…Blade Epic Collection.

The Blade the Vampire Slayer: His Name is…Blade Epic Collection collects stories than span from 1973 to 1990 in The Tomb of Dracula #10, 12-14, 24, 30, 41-43, 51, and 58, Fear #24, Marvel Preview Magazine #3 and 8, Doctor Strange #61-62, Marvel Comics Presents #64 and 67, select Blade pages from The Tomb of Dracula #17-19, 21, 44-50, and 52-53, and Blade stories from Vampire Tales Magazine #8-9.

All stories are written by Marv Wolfman, Chris Claremont, Steve Gerber, Roger Stern, and Marcus McLaurin, with art by Gene Colan, Tony DeZunga, Rico Rival, P. Craig Russell, Steve Leialoha, Dan Green, Malcolm Davis, Tom Palmer, Jacki Abel, Tony DeZuniga, Rick Magyar, and Joseph Adiletta.

The child of both the Blaxploitation Cinema craze and Marvel’s burgeoning Monster titles, Blade immediately made an impact in Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan’s Tomb of Dracula series, quickly becoming a fan-favorite.

The Epic Collection presents all of Blade’s Tomb of Dracula appearances, his 1970s black-and-white tales from Marvel’s more adult magazine titles, and a few from the 1980s featuring Doctor Strange, before his renaissance in the early 1990s (which were collected in the Blade: Nightstalkers Epic Collection last year).

Much of the same material was also collected in 2023 in the Blade: The Early Years Omnibus.

The Blade the Vampire Slayer: His Name is…Blade Epic Collection consists of 496 pages for a suggested retail price of $54.99.
