Rhode Island Comic Con is famous for its variety of guests, the big celebrity guests they draw, and the quality of the vendors they offer. This year was no different, with the event offering the first-ever opportunity for fans to get pictures and autographs with Kevin Smith and nearly the entire Clerks cast. Smith was particularly kind to fans, hugging everyone during photo op sessions which are typically very quick. Smith went out of his way to make a memorable experience for everyone. Giancarlo Esposito also offered an excellent experience during photo ops. Unlike some other conventions, the majority of RICC’s photo ops had no plexiglass diving fans and celebrities, and the outcome was pre-pandemic quality photo ops with stars!

Our Friday coverage largely focused on the happenings at the Rhode Island Convention Center. We plan to cover all of the great events at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Sunday. At the convention center, we documented autographing and photo experiences with Jeff Anderson and Bryce Papenbrook, cosplay standouts, vendors, and the coveted artist’s alley. Keep an eye on the site for exclusive interviews with Keith Williams and Patrick Broderick. Keep scrolling for our photos from Friday’s event.
