Nick Frost and Simon Pegg have made a career of blending horror, science fiction, and comedy as a duo who have faced down the walking dead, aliens, and all sort of trouble. In Amazon Prime’s upcoming series Truth Seekers, the good friends will add the supernatural to the list.
Frost and Pegg will star in the new series about a team of part-time paranormal investigators who try to “seek the truth” regarding ghosts and other paranormal activity throughout the United Kingdom. The less-than-proficient investigators may get more than they bargain for over the course of the eight episode series, as they catch wind of a deadly conspiracy to end the world.
Truth Seekers also stars Samson Kayo, Malcolm McDowell, Emma D’Arcy, and Susan Wokoma as Helen. The series was created by Frost, Pegg, James Serafinowicz, and Nat Saunders, and all will serve as executive producers on the series.
The foursome discussed the origins of the series on the Truth Seekers panel at ComicCon@Home and said that their love of the supernatural came from early exposure to ghost stories and supernatural phenomenon in the book series The Unexplained. They also seemed to be intrigued by the sections on spontaneous human combustion, with Pegg pointing out that the photos included in the book were always somewhat suspicious, with “…this telling little detail in the picture, as they were always next to the fire or a heater of some kind”.
