Marvel is always looking to introduce young readers to the classics, and the upcoming Mighty Marvel Masterworks will collect the very first Marvel tales in a 6″ x 9″ format that is already familiar to many of them.
The Manga-sized collections start with volumes dedicated to the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and The X-Men, with more on the way. Michael Cho shared the first images of his retro cover for Mighty Marvel Masterworks The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1 and likened the new series to the original Marvel Digest Comics that he loved as a kid.
The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1 will collect Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s Amazing Spider-Man #1-10 (1962) and Amazing Fantasy #15, The Fantastic Four Vol. 1 will collect Fantastic Four (1961) #1-10 by Lee and Jack Kirby, and The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 will collect Uncanny X-Men #1-10 (1963) also by Lee and Kirby.
Look for The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1 in bookstores on June 22, The Fantastic Four Vol. 1 on July 27, and The Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 on August 24. Comic shops will likely have the volumes in stock a week or two ahead of time, but release dates are subject to change. Each volume will retail for $15.99.
