Marvel has been digging into the vaults lately for some classic Omnibuses, Epic Collections, and Treasuries, and Marvel will continue to mine the classics with the re-release of 1976’s rare Jack Kirby project, Captain America’s Bicentennial Battles.
Captain America’s Bicentennial Battles was originally released to help commemorate the 200th Anniversary of America and was also one of the only Marvel Treasuries that consisted of all new material. The original Treasury Edition was released the same month and year (January 1976) that Kirby returned to the Captain America monthly series in issue #193 with the first chapter of his “Madbomb” storyline.
The oversized Marvel Treasury Edition (written and drawn by “The King”) takes Captain America on a time-travelling journey through the nation’s past, from the American Revolution, to World War One, World War Two, and all points in-between. Cap even gets to share a few stories with Benjamin Franklin!
According to the Amazon listing, the new edition will contain all of the original stories, as well as art from Marvel’s Mighty Marvel Bicentennial Calendar 1976.
Look for Captain America’s Bicentennial Battles to be released on June 9, 2021, right before Independence Day.
