Lucasfilm Announces Cast, Start of Production for Disney+ ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Series

Thanks to Lucasfilm’s announcement today, there are going to be a galaxy full of talented actors joining Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen for the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The company announced the series’ main cast members for the Disney+ title, which will begin principal photography in April. The announcement specifically cites Christensen as playing the role of Darth Vader (but here’s hoping for the possibility of a flashback as Anakin Skywalker!).

Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will return from the prequel trilogy as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. Newcomers to the franchise include Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian) will direct Obi-Wan Kenobi. There is currently no premiere date set for the series. It is set to run exclusively on Disney+.
