The United States Postal Service is currently running a “Stamp Encore” contest that lets the public vote to bring back a favorite stamp from the past for a new reissue in 2026.
Choices range from Disney favorites, to DC Comics characters, to the ever-popular Flag Act of 1818.
I excitedly went to the website, thinking that it was my chance to vote for 1997’s Classic Monsters stamps and get them back on letters and Halloween cards where they belong.
Unfortunately, our favorite Universal Monsters are not represented in the eligible twenty-five.
However, at the bottom of the voting page, there was another place to make my voice heard. When I clicked on the “Don’t see your favorite? We can’t include every stamp, but share your favorite with us!”, the Classic Monsters info popped up when entered in the search bar, and I was able to tell the government that I want my monsters back!
So, it got me thinking…if all of us Monsters Kids let the Postal Service know we want them, perhaps it will convince the USPS to bring them back!
I encourage you to do what I did and send your thoughts to the USPS in hopes that we can get Frankenstein, Dracula, the Mummy, the Wolfman, and the Phantom of the Opera back in circulation.
The contest runs until Tuesday, September 30, so please send in your monster requests and share with fellow Universal Monster fans everywhere (while there, you can also vote for the ones featured in the contest as well).
Let’s bring them back!
