Legendary ‘Final Fantasy’ & ‘The Sandman’ Artist Yoshitaka Amano Designs ‘Harley Quinn’ Variant Cover

Yoshitaka Amano, the incredible artist whose work has defined the Final Fantasy video game franchise and took The Sandman into a radical visual direction, has brought his signature style to a variant cover of a brand new Harley Quinn series.

The image was revealed by Harley Quinn Issue 1 writer Stephanie Phillips on her Twitter account:

Phillips announced on December 6th that she would be writing the new book. She previously penned Future State: Harley Quinn. Riley Rossmo will provide the art for the new book.

Yoshitaka Amano’s first voyage into the world of comics was in 1999 for The Sandman: The Dream Hunters with Neil Gaiman. Amano collaborated with Gaiman again in 2015 for a David Bowie project called The Return of the Thin White Duke. Amano’s first portrayal of superheroes was in 2002 with Elektra and Wolverine: The Redeemer. Harley Quinn #1 will mark the first time he has drawn the titular character.
