‘JLApe: The Complete Collection’ Revisits the Time the Justice League Went Ape

The very first graphic novel to capture 1999’s DC Annual crossover that saw all members of the JLA (other than that “too-cool-for-Ape-transformations” Batman) go ape is now available for simians everywhere to enjoy.

JLApe: The Complete Collection includes JLA Annual #3, Batman Annual #23, Aquaman Annual #5, Wonder Woman Annual #8, The Flash Annual #12, Superman Annual #11, Green Lantern Annual #8, Martian Manhunter Annual #2, and Legends of the DC Universe #19.

The tale of ape madness if presented by Len Kaminski, John Ostrander, Keith Giffen, Pop Mhan, Jason Orfalas, Graham Nolan, and M.D. Bright.

The trouble starts when Solovar, leader of Gorilla City, is apparently assassinated by pro-human extremists, leading to Gorilla City’s declaration of war on humanity. That declaration naturally includes turning the members of the Justice League into ape form to prevent the world’s premier super team from foiling the Ape-pocalypse.

The trade paperback collection consists of 352 pages for a suggested retail price of $29.99.

Arthur Adams provides a memorable cover for the collection (with the bait-and-switch image of Batman as an ape) which originally appeared on the front of JLA Annual #3.
