Those who are lamenting Halloween’s quick exit in favor of premature Holiday decorations will be happy to hear that Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino will be teaming-up once again for a new shared horror universe called The Bone Orchard Mythos in the summer of 2022.
The creators behind Gideon Falls, Primordial, Old Man Logan, and Green Arrow will begin to grow their “Bone Orchard” through a series of new titles across a variety of different storytelling formats including hardcover graphic novels, miniseries, and maxiseries that will take place in the same mysterious and horrifying world.
The current plan is to release at least two new titles each year (over the course of the next several years) beginning this summer with the hardcover graphic novel entitled, The Passageway (which involves a geologist’s investigation of a remote lighthouse), followed by a miniseries in the fall called Ten Thousand Black Feathers, and another limited series entitled Tenement in 2023.
Lemire states that “We are planning a vast mythology of horror stories that will last for years to come” and Sorrentino says that “Each one of these books is imbued with such a moody and a chilling atmosphere that is just so good to work with” and that “These are the kind of stories I want to read as a graphic novel and comics fan, and the kind of things I want to draw as an artist.”
Sorrentino also says that each story can be read as a stand alone book or as part of a “…hierarchy of horrors…”.
The Passageway original graphic novel will be available at your local comic shop on Wednesday, June 15 and in bookstores on Tuesday, June 21.
