Independent comic creators and companies have always looked out for each other, and Image Comics, Skybound Entertainment, and Humble Bundle are continuing this tradition by raising money to help out independent book and comic stores and comic industry veterans in a time of crisis.
So far, the three companies are performing like real super heroes, having raised in excess of $140,000 for the Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation and The Hero Initiative.
For more than twenty years, the Binc Foundation has helped bookstores and comic book shops employees and owners who are experiencing unexpected financial hardships. The Foundation is the only 501(c)(3) in the United States dedicated exclusively to strengthening the brick-and mortar book industry by supporting the people who work in bookstores and comics shops.
The three companies raised the funds through Humble Bundle, which offers sets of digital comics and graphic novels for a “Pay What You Want” donation. The “The Walking Dead by Image Comics/Skybound Entertainment” Bundle, “Creator Spotlight on Jonathan Hickman”, and the currently running “Image Comics Showcase” Bundle purchases all contributed to the total amount so far raised for the Binc Foundation.
The aforementioned “Image Comics Showcase” Bundle is currently running and, according to the official press release “… in fewer than 24 hours, is already on track to be the highest ordered Image Central Humble Bundle in the past five years. Its proceeds will go toward Binc Foundation too, as well as to The Hero Initiative.” The bundle consists of droves of award-winning comics and collections such as Invincible, Stray Bullets, Criminal, Monstress, and much more.
To take advantage of this offer, visit Humble Bundle and don’t forget to support the Binc Foundation and The Hero Initiative directly as well.
