Hawkeye Gets ‘Shafted’ in New Epic Collection

Hawkeye never has it easy, especially in his latest Epic Collection titled Shafted.

The new Epic Collection begins with Chuck Dixon, Scott Kolins, Tim Dzon’s Hawkeye #1-4 from 1994 which gives the collection its name. The mini-series follows directly after the death of Mockingbird, sending the purple archer on a quest for meaning and a new purpose. Clint Barton finds it in a battle with the Secret Empire and a new feral and furry sidekick named Rover (sort of a mutated dog-man/werewolf).

The action continues in 2003’s Hawkeye #1-8 by Fabian Nicieza, Stefano Raffaele, Joe Bennett, Sandu Florea in a series called “The High, Hard Shaft” which contains equal parts espionage and hard-boiled detective elements, with plenty of Marvel touches.

The collection also contains Hawkeye: Earth’s Mightiest Marksman one-shot, The Avengers #502; The Pulse #10, New Avengers #26 and 30, Young Avengers Presents #6, and the Hawkeye stories from Marvel Comics Presents #159-161 by Nel Yomtov, Tom DeFalco, Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction, Jerry DeCaire, David Finch, Michael Lark, Alex Maleev, Leinel Francis Yu, Alan Davis, Jeff Johnson, Dave Ross, Mark Bagley, Scott Hanna, Danny Miki, Stefano Gaudiano, Mark Farmer, Joe Rubenstein, Tom Wegrzyn, and Al Milgrom.

The Epic Collection also highlights Hawkeye’s apparent death, before he awakens in the Scarlet Witch-altered House of M universe and has to find a way back to the reality he remembers.

The Hawkeye: Shafted Epic Collection consists of 480 pages for a suggested retail price of $44.99.
