‘Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner’ Vol. 1 Revisits Earliest Appearances in New Collection

Fan-favorite member of the Green Lantern Corps gets the emerald spotlight again in the reissued Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner Vol. 1 collection.

The neophyte Lantern’s origins and first adventures by Ron Marz, Darryl Banks, and Romeo Tanghal (after Hal Jordan’s revenger-fueled crack-up) are collected in chronological order in Green Lantern #48-57, New Titans #116-117, and R.E.B.E.L.S. #1.

The trade paperback collection include the entire “Emerald Twilight” storyline when the lone surviving Guardian bestows the final power ring on Rayner, throwing the young artist into the deep end of the pool in the DC Universe.

Rayner does get some mentoring from Superman and the original Green Lantern Alan Scott in the stories, and also immediately faces Mongul, who was responsible for Jordan’s evil tun after the destruction of Coast City by the alien villain.

All stories were originally published between 1994 and 1995. The Kyle Rayner collection was first published in 2017.

Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner Vol. 1 consists of 368 pages for a suggested retail price of $39.99.
