Godzilla Takes on Hulk and Spider-Man in Separate One-Shot Comics

Marvel and Toho International continue to place Godzilla squarely in the sights of Marvel’s finest in two upcoming one-shot comics starring the Hulk and Spider-Man.

Godzilla vs. Hulk #1 (by Gerry Duggan and Giuseppe Camuncoli) starts the brawl when General Ross send his anti-Kaiju strike team against the famous atomic monster and the Hulk naturally gets involved in the fray.

Duggan said, “I grew up loving Godzilla movies and Marvel Comics, and it’s a thrill to be able to collaborate with Giuseppe Camuncoli on the absolute craziest comic I think I’ve ever been a part of, and I worked on over a hundred issues of Deadpool…”

Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 (by Joe Kelly and Nick Bradshaw) takes place in the 1980s, directly after Peter Parker returns from Secret Wars with his new black suit.

Kelly is equally excited for the opportunity and said, “The second I heard that there was going to be a Godzilla x Spidey crossover set in the ’80s, I almost leapt across the table to claim it. This book is a chance to go nuts and have a blast with two iconic characters and channel the chaos of the time period that I was actively collecting Spider-Man.”

The Hulk and Spidey stories are just two of the six Godzilla vs. Marvel one-shots, beginning with Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four in March, and followed in the spring and summer by match-ups against the X-Men, Thor, and as of yet unannounced final opponent.

Look for Godzilla vs. Hulk in stores on April 16 and Godzilla vs. Spider-Man on April 30.

Marvel recently published Godzilla’s original comic book adventures in the Godzilla: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus.
