Fathom Events and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment are brining back one of the top science fiction films of the late ’90s this summer, as Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element turns 25 this year.
The 1997 film’s twenty-fifth anniversary will be commemorated with a two-day only presentation in theaters on Sunday, June 26 and Wednesday, June 29 at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm (local time) both days. As an added bonus, the theatrical presentation will also offer audiences an interview with Besson, plus outtakes from the film.
The Fifth Element stars Bruce Willis as surly cab driver Korben Dallas, Milla Jovovich as the alien Leeloo, and Gary Oldman as (naturally) a morally bankrupt industrialist by the name of Zorg. Other notable cast members include Ian Holm, Chris Tucker, Luke Perry, and Tiny Lister.
In addition to directing, Besson also wrote the script with Robert Mark Kamen.
