‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Hangs on to First Place at Weekend Box Office

Just like Reed Richards, The Fantastic Four: First Steps stretched past the new competition at the weekend box office and stayed in the top spot.

First Steps made an estimated $40 million, for a $198.4 million domestic total so far.

The Four held off The Bad Guys 2 (with an estimated three-day total of $22.8 million) and Paramount’s The Naked Gun (at $16.5 million).

James Gunn’s Superman finished in fourth place in its fourth weekend of release, with an estimated $14 million for a domestic total of $316.3 million so far.

With little new competition next week (and for the rest of August) all four films should continue to rake in dollars at the box office.

Come back next week and see if the Fantastic Four can keep hold of the top spot.
