DC Comics DC Finest Series adds an Events category to their vintage comics blitzkrieg with a new DC Finest Edition featuring the first half of 1994’s Zero Hour: Crisis in Time.
The DC Finest: Events: Zero Hour Part One collects Superman #93, The Flash #94, L.E.G.I.O.N. #70, Green Lantern #55, Superman: The Man of Steel #37, Team Titans #24, The Darkstars #24, Valor #23, Batman #511, Batman: Shadow of the Bat #31, Detective Comics #678, Legionnaires #18, Hawkman #13, Showcase ’94 #8-9, Steel #8, Superboy #8, Outsiders #11, and Zero Hour: Crisis in Time #3-4.
Spearheaded by Dan Jurgens and Jerry Ordway, Zero Hour: Crisis in Time also contains writing by Mark Waid, Tom Peyer, Ron Marz, Louise Simonson, Jeff Jensen, Phil Jimenez, Michael Jan Friedman, Kurt Busiek, Doug Moench, Alan Grant, Chuck Dixon, William Messner-Loebs, Karl Kesel, and Mike W. Barr.
Artists in the collection include Jurgens, Ordway, Carlos Pacheco, Arnie Jorgensen, Craig Hamilton, Jon Bogdanove, Phil Jimenez, Mike Collins, Colleen Doran, Mike Manley, Bret Blevins, Graham Nolan, Chris Gardner, Dennis Cramer, Steve Lieber, Chris Batista, Tom Grummett, Paul Pelletier, Joe Rubinstein, Jose Marzan, Jr., Wayne Faucher, Derec Aucoin, James Pascoe, Romeo Tanghal, Dennis Janke, Nigel Tully, Andrew Pepoy, Rus Sever, Dan Davis, Ken Branch, Dave Cooper, Joe Rubinstein, Bob McLeod, Dennis Cramer, Curt Shoult, Rich Faber, Doug Hazlewood, Dan Davis, and Robert Campanella.
The reverse order event series (counting down to zero) led to an eventual soft reboot of the entire DC line (cleaning up some continuity issues ever since the original Crisis on Infinite Earths), with each surviving monthly title receiving a #0 issue published after the end of the event.
Some series resumed their previous numbering following the event, and some started fresh with a new #1 issue.
DC released an Omnibus edition of the entire event this past February, so if you don’t want to wait for the second volume of the DC Finest collection (or you prefer to have all the stories in one, albeit more expensive place), you can see if your local shop still has one of the time-altering books.
The DC Finest: Events: Zero Hour Part One consists of 496 pages for a suggested retail price of $39.99.
