Drew Hancock’s Companion finished in second place at the weekend box office, buoyed by an extremely positive critical reception.
The sci-fi/horror film starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid made $9.5 million and delivered a similar opening box office total to Hancock’s Barbarian ($10.5 million).
Critics gave the film a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 94% and fans scored the film at 91% on the Popcorn Meter. Those polled by CinemaScore at the theater were a little less impressed with a rating of B+.
