‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Soars at Weekend Box Office

Captain America: Brave New World flew into theaters this weekend and left with an estimated $88 million.

Adding in President’s Day, Sam Wilson’s solo debut as the Captain drew an estimated $100 million for a stronger than predicted start out of the gate.

Some of the surprise over the success at the box office is due to a lower than expected Rotten Tomatoes score of 51% and a B- from Cinema Score. Fans gave the film a much better 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcorn Meter.

Does Cap have wings at the box office? Bad weather also kept some fans away from the cinema this weekend in the North East, but it will be interesting to see if ticket buyers continue to ignore middling reviews for the rest of Brave New World’s run.

Check back next week to see if Cap stays flying high at the box office.
