The name Buckaroo Banzai is one the rings in the ears of any fan of science fiction from the 1980s. The genre-bending and satirical film based on the novel by E. M. Rauch immediately became a cult classic upon its release in 1984 and loyal fans have been craving more ever since he returned from the 8th Dimension.
Wait no longer! A brand new novel by Rauch (the original novelist and screenwriter) is on the way from Dark Horse Comics this August entitled Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League, et al: A Compendium of Evils!
The new story was “told” by the Reno Kid to Rauch (in the same way that Huck Finn recounted his story to Mark Twain in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn) and finds Banzai coping with the loss of his love, Penny Priddy, and his surrogate father Professor Hikita. Banzai also has to deal with “…the constant threat of attack from his immortal nemesis Hanoi Xan, ruthless leader of the World Crime League. To make matters worse, Planet 10 warrior queen John Emdall has sent her Lectroid legions against Earth with a brutal ultimatum. Or is her true target Buckaroo Banzai?”
Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League is a 544-page hardcover prose novel (with a retail price of $29.99). Look for the further adventures of Buckaroo Banzai in bookstores on August 10, 2021.
