Brian Michael Bendis’ sequel to his autobiographical journey into Hollywood as a writer of comic books heads to the Great White Way in his upcoming Fortune & Glory: The Musical.
Bendis will start the unusual tale of his time as the writer of the much-maligned Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark musical on his official Substack Jinxworld page as a new weekly comic with collaborators Bill Walko, Wes Dzioba, and Josh Reed, with an eventual physical release from Dark Horse Comics in the near future.
Bendis admits that he never thought he’d be able to top the crazy stories from the original Fortune and Glory, but “Then I got called to be the writer of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, a now notorious infamous Broadway musical that you can Google about right now. The story I’m about to tell you happened years before the show’s debut. Only my closest pals knew any of this happened at the time. I’ve only hinted at parts of this in past interviews. Now, it gives me a GREAT excuse to go down memory lane and share my favorite moments of coming up in comics with you.”
The original Fortune & Glory graphic novel returns in an all-new edition from Dark Horse Comics on April 5 for those who missed it the first time around.
Be sure to stay tuned for more information about the Dark Horse release and future Jinxworld material.
