Director Ryan Coogler and cast members Mabel Cadena, Michaela Coel, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Tenoch Huerta, Florence Kasumba, Alex Livinalli, Lupita Nyong’o, Dominique Thorne and Letitia Wright brought the trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to Hall-H at SDCC 2022, answering some questions about the secretive film, and creating many more.
The trailer reveals Queen Ramonda sitting on the throne of Wakanda, as the principle characters from Black Panther mourn the loss of their king. Few, if any, sequels have had to work in the death of the actual star of the previous film into the story (Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa), but from the trailer, it is clear that the life is unfortunately informing fiction in this sense.
With their leader and primary protector gone, the trailer Introduces the greatest threat to Wakanda coming from the Undersea kingdom of Atlantis, with Tenoch Huerta starring as Namor.
It has also been made clear that someone will assume the mantle of Black Panther, but who that may be is still as mystery.
Wakanda Forever opens in theaters on November 11, 2022.
