Avengers Emergency Response Squad Headline New ‘Avengers Assemble’ Mini-Series

Get ready to don your official Avengers jacket for the new Avengers Assemble mini-series!

Spinning out of Jed MacKay’s current run on Avengers and Blood Hunt, the new five-issue series (first issue in stores on September 11) will be written by Steve Orlando with art by Cory Smith, Scot Eaton, Marcelo Ferreira, Valentina Pinti, and more.

After the events of Blood Hunt, Captain America rolls out the new Avengers initiative, with Captain Rogers, Wasp, Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Hercules, She-Hulk, Photon, Night Thrasher, Lightning, Wonder Man, Shang-Chi, and Lightspeed (Julie Power) taking up residency in the classic Avengers Mansion and facing new obstacles and villains in each of the five issues.

The first mission gets underway when Cap learns about the Red Skull’s daughter’s discovery of a dangerous artifact, and Cap, Wasp, Photon and Shang-Chi set out to foil her plans. The rest of the remains in NYC, with Hawkeye hosting a team-building poker game at the Mansion.

Orlando took inspiration for the series from the original West Coast Avengers title when plotting out Avengers Assemble. Orlando said “West Coast Avengers was the first comic book I ever bought, full stop. So, to be part of a return to form, heavy on personality, rich in action, is more than exciting—it’s an honor!”
