Following on the heels of the recent rerelease of the Annihilation Omnibus comes the first Modern Era Epic Collection of the start of the first Annihilation storyline.
The Annihilation: Annihilation Day Epic Collection contains Drax the Destroyer #1-4, Annihilation Prologue, Annihilation: Nova #1-4, Annihilation: Silver Surfer #1-4, and Annihilation: Super Skrull #1-4.
All stories are written by Keith Giffen, Andy Lanning, Dan Abnett, and Javier Grillo-Marxuach, with art by Mitch Breitweiser, Scott Kolins, Ariel Olivetti, Kev Walker, Rick Magyer, Renato Arlem, and Greg Titus.
The Modern Era Epic Collection is more of a prelude to the main Annihilation story (and none of the six-issue Annihilation series are contained in this volume), establishing many of the cosmic hero’s place in the Marvel Universe (and story) in the face of the invasion by Annihilus from the Negative Zone. Unlike some crossover heavy storylines, all of the mini-series that lead up to the flagship mini-series add needed context and story elements to the tale.
Annihilation was originally collected as a series of thee hardcover editions in 2007, followed by the first Omnibus in 2014, the two volume Complete Collection in 2018, 2019’s second Omnibus edition, and 2022’s third version (along with this year’s fourth edition).
The Annihilation: Annihilation Day Epic Collection consists of 472 pages for a suggested retail price of $44.99.
