Image Comics neo-noir Western That Texas Blood is being developed as a television series for FX by Jim Mickle (director, showrunner, and writer of Netflix’s Sweet Tooth) and E.L. Katz (co-executive producer and producing director on Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor).
Chris Condon and Jacob Phillips series is currently available in three collected editions from Image Comics, as well as the prequel series titled The Enfield Gang Massacre, set 150 years in the past.
Condon told Conskipper (in our recent interview with the writer about The Goddamn Tragedy) that he is a big fan of Western stories and he loves “…the focus on environment and setting in a Western. If you watch an old Western film, they often have these huge, sweeping vistas, all filmed in widescreen. They even invented a new form of widescreen in the 1950s called “Cinerama” to help emphasize this focus even further. I love that – I love the silence of being in a distant, remote place. I think there’s an inherent tension in the isolation, in being forced into an inhospitable environment that’s out of your comfort zone. I think I thrive in telling those sorts of stories.”
The upcoming story arc (originally set to debut in That Texas Blood #21 in June) has been delayed until the fall.
