Nessie has been less shy in 2026, with a current total of five sightings this year so far.
The five eye witness reports were logged in the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, and range from ripples in the water, to a classic Nessie hump, and even a rare fin sighting.
Sara Gubicza (visiting the Loch from the USA with her husband) reported seeing what looked like a white shark fin in the morning of April 21 and described the fin as “…about an 18 inch triangle and it was whitish gray. As far as how fast it was moving, I’m not really sure as I was on a bus riding by when I saw it. It seemed to be right in the middle of the loch. It wasn’t close to any shore line. It was close to Loch Dochfour and before the Urquhart Castle coming from Inverness. Because we were coming from Inverness, we were going south and the fin was going the opposite direction so north.”
Gubicza’s sighting was followed by two others in late April (on April 23 and 25).
There were a total of six signtings in 2025.
