John Byrne’s Superman: The Man of Steel lands a new Absolute Edition in honor of the 40th anniversary of the 1986 reinvention of Superman.
The hardcover, slipcase edition contains the six-issue mini-series by Byrne and Dick Giordano with plenty of extras, in a deluxe format.
The fully remastered story arrives in its biggest format ever, and features the original comic coloring and an extensive art gallery of never-before-seen pencils, art, and more.
After his success at Marvel Comics with the Uncanny X-Men and Fantastic Four, Byrne arrived at the offices of DC Comics in 1986 ready to transform Superman for the modern era in a post-Crisis on Infinite Earths universe.
Byrne kept many of the classic elements of the character, but added a little more angst to Kal-El’s persona. Byrne also introduced updated versions of Lois Lane, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, and Bizarro in the series.
Byrne and Terry Austin would launch a new Superman on-going series in 1987 directly after the conclusion of Man of Steel.
Superman: The Man of Steel by John Byrne Absolute Edition consists of 328 pages for a suggested retail price of $100.00.
