Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s phenomenal run continues in the latest edition of the X-Men: Proteus Epic Collection with The Uncanny X-Men #111-128 and some notable bonus stories.
Some of the highlights of the middle period of their stint on the most popular title of the late 1970s and 80s include a showdown with Magneto in space on Asteroid M, a Savage Land encounter with Sauron, the debut of Alpha Flight, Moses Magnum, and the tragic title story featuring Moira MacTaggert’s reality-warping son Proteus on Muir Island.
The collection (originally released in 2020) also includes some gems from the Bronze Age such as the team’s battle against Arkon in Uncanny X-Men Annual #3 (by Chris Claremont, George Pérez and Terry Austin), Spider-Man and Nightcrawler’s trip to the circus in Marvel Team-Up #89 (by Claremont, Mike Nasser, Rich Buckler, and Joe Rubinstein) and the Hulk’s destruction of the super-Sentinel named Master Mold in The Incredible Hulk Annual #7 with original X-Men/Champions teammates Angel and Iceman (by Byrne, Roger Stern, and Bob Layton).
The X-Men: Proteus Epic Collection consists of 440 pages for a suggested retail price of $44.99.
