‘WandaVision’ Trailer Offers First Look at Deconstructed 1950’s Bliss

In what will now be the first Marvel series to debut on Disney+ (after Falcon and the Winter Soldier was pushed back to 2021), as promised, the trailer for WandaVision delivers all of the odd and intriguing visuals and early sitcom trappings we were expecting.

The new series (according to the official synopsis) is “…a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.”

While the specific plot points may be unclear at this point, the trailer would indicate that much of the story is at the very least inspired by Tom King and Gabriel Hernandez Walta’s Vision series and perhaps Steve Englehart’s second The Vision and Scarlet Witch mini-series from 1985, which took the story in a dark, creative direction and highlighted Wanda’s reality-altering powers.

The series stars Paul Bettany, Kat Dennings, Kathryn Hahn, and Elizabeth Olsen.
