Tom King and Greg Smallwood Take Aim at ‘The Human Target’

Tom King takes aim at another underutilized character in the DC Universe this November, and with the help of artist Greg Smallwood, they are shooting for a bullseye.

The Human Target (a 12-issue DC Black Label limited series based on the character co-created by Len Wein and Carmine Infantino) places Christopher Chance squarely in the middle of the DC superhero universe, as the character had previously appeared in two Vertigo series by Peter Milligan in 1999 and 2003 and in a 2010 mini-series by original co-creator Wein to coincide with Fox’s television adaptation which ran for two seasons.

Chance’s latest incarnation sees him take on a “…case protecting Lex Luthor when things go sideways. An assassination attempt Chance didn’t see coming leaves him vulnerable and left trying to solve his own murder…as he has 12 days to discover just who in the DCU hated Luthor enough to want him dead.”

The noir-detective take on The Human Target will go on sale on November 2 with a cover by Smallwood, two card stock variant covers by Trevor Hairsine and Danny Miki, and a 1/25 variant cover by Jenny Frison.
