Tom King and Daniel Sampere take over as the new creative team on Wonder Woman in September as part of DC Comics Dawn of DC initiative.
King shared the news on twitter and said that their goal is to “…go big, go epic and give you a Diana true to her legacy:”
Sampere clarified some of the details about the new series in his own tweet.
The new Wonder Woman series will relaunch with a brand new first issue, directly following Wonder Woman #800 by the current team of Becky Cloonan, Michael W. Conrad, Joëlle Jones, and Jen Bartel, who will wrap up their “Whatever Happened to the Warrior of Truth?” storyline in the anniversary issue. King and Sampere will also be on board with a teaser for their upcoming #1.
The new title will open with a story that establishes a new Amazon Safety Act after an Amazon commits mass murder on US soil, leading to the formation of the Amazon Extradition Entity (AXE) to remove those who don’t comply with the new law of the land. Naturally, Diana has some issues with this new normal, and begins a quest for the search for the truth, ostracizing herself from the very country that she calls her second home.
